Cumulative Update 1 for System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 – known issue

A problem occurs when you try to approve agents connected to a GW server, it looks like the update procedure for GW do not copies the
necessary files to the AgentManagement folder.

it means that even if you choose approve for the pending agents, nothing happens and the agents are not updated.

to workaround this issue it is important to use the following update procedure:

  1. Apply the hotfix to the RMS and run the SQL script update against the OperationsManager DB.
  2. Import the updated Management pack.
  3. Apply the hotfix to all Management Servers.
  4. Apply the hotfix to all Gateway servers.
  5. Apply the hotfix to all dedicated consoles.
  6. Apply the hotfix to other components (Web Console, ACS).
  7. validate that all necessary files are in place http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974144 include the MSI files in AgentNanagement folder. you can copy them from the RMS server.
  8. Apply the hotfix to all the pending agents by approving them. if you have manual installed agents you will need to manually update the.

DO NOT FORGET to Backup the Operations database before you start the update.
