My Experience Deploying Operations Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007 R2 Version 6.1.7599.0 – Part II

As i wrote in my previous post i think that the guide is missing something regarding the Automatic Agent Management Account Run As Profile.

I think that the instruction apply to SCOM with servers from one domain only and if you do what the guide instruct you you will see a lot of critical alerts in the console.
if you have agents from different domains or workgroup (different user accounts) you will need to create a group of agents per domain and target a domain user to a specific group.

1. Open the Authoring console and go to groups.
2. Create a new group (you will need to do so for any domain or workgroup you have).
3. in the dynamic members select agent and click Add.

4. Open the drop down list and select “DNS Domain Name” under “Host=Windows Computer” and select the operator and value that you need.

5. Finish the wizard and create the group.

Now its time to follow the instruction in the guide:

1. In the Operations console, on the Go menu, click Administration.

2. In the navigation pane, expand Administration, expand Security, click Run As Configuration, and then click Profiles.

3. Double-click Automatic Agent Management Account, and then click the Run As Accounts tab.

4. Click Add, and then in the Run As Account drop-down menu, click an existing account that has administrator access to the agents or click New to create a new account to use.

5. This Run As account will be used to manage the group you created early. , you will need to repeat this for any domain/workgroup you manage.

6. Click Save.
